7 reasons to Volunteer at The Circle

Volunteering is a mutually beneficial relationship. It should always work for all the parties involved and it can be an extremely rewarding process.

The Circle wouldn’t be where it is today without the help of their volunteers, some have gone on to other things, whilst others have been offered employment, like our wonderful receptionist Jennifer who has the biggest smile in the organisation. Our Facilities Operative, Michael Ratcliffe also volunteered with us and now works with us full-time.

With The Circle Glasgow opening up in Easterhouse in September 2021, it’s now time to start inviting volunteers back into the building after missing them for so long due to the restrictions Covid has brought so we thought we would share why you should volunteer with us.

7 reasons why you should Volunteer at The Circle

Meet new people, make new friends and build a better community

forming new friendships and bonds can help boost your self-esteem, give you a support network and create lasting relationships. We’re a friendly bunch and will instantly make you feel welcome.

Enhance your career

learning new tasks and volunteering can help improve your career and job prospects. Employers will recognise your determination, commitment and values if you have spent time volunteering with us. The Circle can offer a wide range of volunteering opportunities and can help build on your existing skills as well as offer new ones.

Feel good factor

We have relied on volunteers in the past and our organisation was founded on the help that others gave us. You will feel great knowing that you’re offering your valuable time to help others.

Make your mark

If you want to volunteer at The Circle Glasgow, it is new to The Circle family and you’ll be one of the first volunteers to join the team. You can help us develop the opportunity and make it unique to you.

Boost your self-esteem

Volunteering has proved to have benefits on your mental health. It improves your confidence which in turn boosts your self-esteem and gives you a sense of pride and purpose. We are a Community Interest Company so you know you’ll be putting your time and skills into helping improve your community.

Gain qualifications

The Circle can work with you to gain SQA qualifications. This will improve your skills, and knowledge and enhance your job prospects. The Circle works with Ellis Whittam to offer online courses on health and safety in the workplace.

Give back

Volunteering is a great way to give back to the community and your time is the most valuable thing you can give. We at The Circle appreciate any time you can offer.

We have had some wonderful volunteers over the 5 years we have been running in Dundee. You can read some of their stories over here – Eddie Baines a current tenant with us at The Circle Dudhope Castle and our very own Michael Ratcliffe.

As part of Volunteer Week Scotland and giving thanks to all our volunteers who have helped us over the years, we are running a Volunteer Matchmaking event.

The Volunteer Matchmaker will take place at The Circle Dudhope Castle on 2nd June 2022. Tour the castle and meet with The Circle, Uppertunity, and Barnardo’s Works, who are all based in The Circle and are looking for volunteers.
