On Thursday 9th of June at 3 pm – 15 people from across the globe are coming together to pitch their More Than Profit business to a panel of judges and you!

Join us in celebrating the end of the 6th cohort of The Circle Academy, our online Social Entrepreneurs training programme.

Over 30 people from around the world have taken part in our accredited social entrepreneur’s programme but who is pitching at The Circle Academy Contest? 15 of the candidates have taken the plunge to pitch in front of a live audience and a panel of expert judges to have a chance to win a small pot of funding.

We are collecting donations for our pitch fund that will be match-funded by The Circle.

Filtr Collective is a new Edinburgh-based creative endeavour aiming to diversify photography in Scotland through two key prongs: exhibition support for emerging artists in non-traditional venues, and a new shop AGITATE; a hub for lens-based artists to sell, discover and discuss photography in an exciting and supportive environment.

Danielle McKinnonEat, Sleep, Ride CIC 

Established in 2017, Eat, Sleep, Ride was created to offer a down to earth and accessible to all riding establishment. Kaitlyn Bartlett – Klash Fashion

Klash Fashion is a More Than Profit business that aims to inspire creativity through bespoke sustainable fashion and sewing and craft workshops so that women and children can feel empowered. Kaitlyn, the Founder, will be pitching about Klash Creative Workshops and how they can impact those who need it most.

Dorian StoyanovComputer Science and digital artist 

Dorian is a trans guy from Bulgaria that is interested in social entrepreneurship. He has the ambition to work in AI and would like to develop indy games for raising mental health awareness in LGBTQIA+ groups.

In their spare time, Dorian makes digital art on commission and would like to combine their problem solving, analytical mind with their creative skills to fulfil their biggest dreams.

OPEN is a peer education project operating under Voluntary Action Shetland. OPEN trains young people (16-25) to be peer educators and peer mentors. Peer educators deliver issues-based workshops to their peers in all Junior/High Schools in shetland.

Jessica is focusing on how they can turn OPEN into an independent and fully youth-led charity.

Jayne SaywellBlack Skies Blue 

Banker for almost 20 years, finance professional with a master’s in environmental economics, mother of 3, and community activist. Working on climate change risk, Jayne became frustrated with the disconnect between understanding the risk posed by climate change and action. In 2019 she left banking to establish Black Skies Blue, a worker’s co-operative of business advisors helping Scottish SMEs pivot towards strong sustainable business models.

Heather would like to solve the issue of isolation, lack of confidence and unemployment experienced by women living in domestic abuse shelters. Many survivors have moved countries or cities and do not have support networks or systems in Glasgow where the shelters are based. Through running workshops, Heather will support these women to build their confidence, employability and future planning.

Erica DuncanWild Roots Woodland Practitioners 

Erica plans to set up as a mobile woodland practitioner using a ‘leave no trace’ model that leaves no permanent footprint on the settings she uses. She will be offering children aged 5-12 years opportunities for outdoor learning, environmental education, bushcraft and rural skills and unstructured play in woodland settings.
