The Circle has received funding to support the delivery of The Circle Academy to a second cohort of aspiring ‘More Than Profit’ leaders. Funding has been contributed from The Rank Foundation as well as the George and Grace Thomson Fund. In addition to this, the candidates will also have the chance to pitch for up to £5,000 through national funders, UnLtd Scotland.
The Academy is a 12-week training programme for those interested in running an organisation with a ‘More than Profit’ approach. Individuals will benefit from 12 weeks of intensive training covering essential topics; mindset, business model, finance, legal, governance, people, social impact and sustainability through multiple income streams.
On completion of the 12-week training programme, The Academy candidates will have the opportunity to pitch their ideas to a judging panel for a share of the prize fund. The UnLtd panel will have up to £20,000 to award to individuals that they feel deserve support. The pitch competition will take place in the final week of each cohort and formal details will follow.
Applications are now open for the second cohort of The Circle Academy, which will launch on the 20th of February. With cohort 3 launching in September.
To be eligible to join The Circle Academy and pitch for the UnLtd award pitch:
- You must be able to commit to the full 12-week programme
- You must be delivering on social impact or planning to
- You agree to be bound by any financial reporting agreements required in respect of any funds awarded. The maximum one individual will be eligible to receive is £5,000

The Circle will be hosting a launch event for cohort 2 of The Circle Academy. The event will mark this year’s Fire Starter Festival and will also feature a pitching panel for social entrepreneurs, in partnership with UnLtd.
