The Circle Academy
Stefan Cameron joined The Circle Academy in 2022 and completed cohort 5. Scotmas Group is a family-owned business in the Scottish Borders. Founded in 1998, Scotmas specialises in delivering Chlorine Dioxide (ClO2) dosing systems in water treatments using the latest technology and expertise.
He was drawn to The Circle Academy because he wanted to widen his knowledge of all the business aspects. Improve his professional skills and implement better ways to promote the company’s mission and support the wider community. After completing The Circle Academy, Stefan implemented the teachings of our programme into the company’s business model. They have seen a positive change in their social impact:
“My time during The Circle Academy was a real eye-opener. Despite working for my family-owned traditional ‘for-profit’ business, it showed me how small changes to daily activities could have a much wider social impact. Our community and employee morale boost, to name a few. In a time of hardship for so many during the current cost of living crisis.”
What Stefan said
“Since my time with The Circle Academy, we have committed to offering free breakfast foods to all staff, done on an undiscriminating and help-yourself basis. The complimentary breakfast has been a real winner amongst staff. Scotmas continue to pay the Real Living Wage to ensure some financial security. We have also started regular charity fundraising events. Taking advantage of our staff’s activities at home and work, such as baking and counting steps. And we continue to find ways to further benefit the community around us by donating proceeds to four locally selected charities.
The direct training on governance, sales, and business planning will help further the business and increase our social impact.
I highly recommend The Circle Academy to anyone looking to start or grow their More Than Profit® business. Or align their traditional for-profit business with some of the ideas in this business model and become more socially aware.”
