Ukrainians in Scotland Together
The war brought grief to every Ukrainian family. Since February 2022, more than 12 million people have been forced to leave their homes and seek safe housing in other regions of the country and abroad.
The Scottish Government accepted more than 30 000 visas for Ukrainian refugees. More than 20 000 people have already arrived in Scotland on Super Sponsor Programme.
Staying in a foreign country is difficult, specifically for those with a language barrier. This worsens the person’s emotional state and increases tension, stress, and aggression.
People need support and practical skills to learn how they can self-regulate.
“Hidden Talents” is a collaborative project between The Circle and Ukrainian Lawyers, mediators and advocates Hanna and Vitalii.
It aims to provide emotional support for Ukrainian refugees through educational sessions. Providing practical skills training on identifying and coping with their and others’ emotions, communicating peacefully, and increasing their emotional awareness. This will help Ukrainian refugees to socialise and integrate into the local community.
This project has been lucky to receive funding from Dundee Communities Mental Health and Well Being Fund to pilot this project.
Hidden Talents will run for three groups. Each group will attend four sessions, each lasting 3 hours.
You will learn the following;
- theory of conflicts
- emotional intelligence
- non-violent communication
We aim to help people find jobs and socialise in the local community. The Circle will support you in getting working experience through volunteering and referencing to a paid job.
Several volunteering roles are available in finance, administration, content creation, gardening and organising events.
