Who are we
The Circle is an award-winning More Than Profit® organisation that supports businesses to make a difference to their communities. A More Than Profit® business aims to make a profit, which will in turn fund positive social change.
The Circle provides fair-rate workspaces within the inclusive and friendly The Circle Community. It offers accessible business advice through The Circle Consultancy and social entrepreneur training through The Circle Academy.

Who we need
We are looking for someone with experience in HR leadership to provide entrepreneurial leadership while ensuring effective controls are in place. We are keen to appoint an additional non-executive director who will support our continued growth as part of our board succession planning. They will be working with the Board and our experienced management team under the leadership of our founder Kirsty Thomson.
We are looking for candidates with experience in operating in a Human Resources leadership role. They will have a particular focus on organisational development and embedding culture and values. They will aim to ensure that as The Circle grows it continues to meet the needs and expectations of all its stakeholders.
We would encourage applications from individuals with lived experience of the challenges faced by the organisations and communities which we support.
The Board
As a director, your role, along with the board, is to lead the process for the development of The Circle’s strategy and vision. To provide entrepreneurial leadership while ensuring effective controls are in place.
You do not need to have previous experience as a director, but you do need to be willing to commit the time needed to understand and fulfil the role.
Board meetings take place quarterly, on weekday evenings. Non-executive directors are expected to be available to provide advice and support to management in addition to reading board papers in advance and attending meetings. They will be asked to attend events organised by The Circle and take part in discussions on urgent matters which may arise.
Non-executive directors are unpaid and give their time freely to help The Circle to achieve its objective in support of the community.
